For Tennis Star and Monaco Resident Dayana Yastremska, Home Will Always Be Odessa

“Due to the war, it’s very complicated and difficult to go back home often. But I would ultimately love to live there,” she told us while in NYC for the U.S. Open

Tennis star Dayana Yastremska has never appreciated her home in Odessa, Ukraine, as much as she does today.

“Given the war, I don’t go back as much as I would like,” she said.

Yastremska’s career as a professional player on the tennis tournament circuit keeps her on the road for much of the year, traveling worldwide. This year alone, she has been to more than a dozen cities, including Melbourne to play in the Australian Open, Paris for the French Open, and London, where she competed in Wimbledon.

Now Yastremska, 25, is in New York for the U.S. Open and staying at The Pierre, A Taj Hotel on Manhattan’s Upper East Side while she’s in town.

Unfortunately, Yastremska was defeated in the first round of the tournament on Monday, losing to Russia’s Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.

Before the Open kicked off, Yastremska co-hosted the hotel’s annual “Smash Bash” party, along with fellow tennis player Alexander Bublik. The event offers ticket holders the chance to mingle with the players and challenge them in a round of ping pong.

Yastremska spoke with Mansion Global on the eve of the party earlier this month about why she loves her home so much, renovating her Odessa apartment and how she decompresses from her job.
